Productivity Hack I’m Loving

We about to go back. Way back. Back to the days when playing snake and roller blading was cool (to be fair, it will probably be just as, if not cooler, today than back then due to, you know…hipsters and what not).

If you have been following my on Instagram lately, I’ve been obsessing over how that little device we call a smart phone, is turning me into an instant gratification machine —paying little attention to the truly non-renewable resource we have: time. Here. Now. That might sound ironic, but still. I’ve been searching for practical hacks that will limit my social media and screen time on my phone in general.

My personal philosophy around just about anything — diet, mindfulness and even home aesthetics — is having simple practices that lead to greater health. My entire blog is around finding practicality for me and sharing it with you. And I think I may have found a semi-decent solution to curb phone addiction.

Grayscaling.

Yes. Turning that candy crushing addiction machine that is illuminating with colours and dopamine-inducing notifications into the simple black and white colours our ancestors saw when they got home from school after they had treked 10 miles everyday will help you…big time my china.

I got this hack from my friend Maurice on Instagram. Go check his profile out on how to use it. Or go here.

Tea I’m Enjoying for Better Sleep

Rooibos Vanilla soooooooon

Ah, good old Rooibos. Have you heard Americans say Rooibos? It’s the best.

Anyway, I’ve been having this pre-bedtime warm stuff now and apparently Rooibos has zero caffeine content so that’s pretty cool. Give it a shot. If you have dosh to spend, go for the Yogi Tea version with camomile.

Quote I’m Contemplating

We have this idea that love is supposed to last forever. But love isn’t like that. It’s a free-flowing energy that comes and goes when it pleases. Sometimes it stays for life; other times it stays for a second, a day, a month, or a year. So don’t fear love when it comes simply because it makes you vulnerable. But don’t be surprised when it leaves, either.
— Neil Strauss, The Game

Although this quote is from a very controversial book, The Game, I believe there is some truth in this.

Love is free-flowing. It’s an energy and when you try to hard it often bounces back in your face and steps on your toes. We often try and hold, grapple, tangle and fight to keep love by our sides — this only ends in despair and regret.

“Love is like a fart. If you force it, it’s probably shit.” I read that as a kid and it’s stuck with me like a baff that has been let loose in an old age home without sufficient airflow.
